Is Coffee good for us and can I put CBD into it?

We simply love coffee in fact we adore it and have embraced coffee culture to such an existent that our high streets and motorways are crammed with choices and opportunities to crank up your daily Joe, including adding CBD - but is this a fad or is there any real benefit?

The Brief History of Coffee

Coffee has had many uses throughout history, from spiritual intoxicant to erotic stimulant. Diarist Samuel Pepys often wrote of the coffee houses of 17th-century London, and the drink also inspired a ‘women’s petition’ which described coffee as “bitter, stinking nauseous puddle water” oh how times have changed. Here, Paul Chrystal, author of Coffee: A Drink For the Devil, shares eight facts about the discovery of coffee and explores Britain’s love affair with the ‘sinful’ beverage.

The Health Benefits of Coffee

It is also claimed that coffee has many health benefits including the ability to improve energy levels, make you smarter, burn fat, drastically improve physical performance, protection from Alzheimer's and Dementia and coffee contains essential nutrients. Many of the nutrients in coffee beans make their way into the finished brewed coffee.

A single cup of coffee contains:

  • Riboflavin (vitamin B2): 11% of the Reference Daily Intake (RDI).
  • Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5): 6% of the RDI.
  • Manganese and potassium: 3% of the RDI.
  • Magnesium and niacin (vitamin B3): 2% of the RDI.

It’s so entwined in our psyche that we only notice when it’s not around rather than when it is! We all know how hard it is to simply buy a plain coffee and I have to admit I still don’t know, and to be honest don’t want to know, what the difference between a flat white and a cappuccino, Life is too short! But how can our daily fix get any better you may ask? Well we believe it just did...

CBD and Coffee - Can you put them together?

The Canni family has an award winning products formerly know as CBD for Coffee now simply Water Soluble CBD without Curcumin, which is perfect for coffee. Our CBD for Coffee product is an innovative and drinkable alternative to CBD oil. You can add it to hot drinks like coffee and tea as, even though it is a lower dosage than our oil, you ingest the full amount of Cannabis/CBD extract via your gastric system, which you don't with the oil and this is why......

Regular CBD oil products and cannabinoids are fat soluble and are therefore mainly degraded by the stomach if it is not absorbed under the tongue. With the oil there is always an amount that is lost down the side of the mouth and into the gastric system, when taken under the tongue, whereas 1mg of our Water Soluble is the equivalent to 20mg of oil due to its bioavailability.  If you would like to learn more about why we believe our water soluble is an innovation and what we mean by bioavailability you can read our blog which explains this in more detail.

So why do we like coffee so much, well it boosts brain power and if it’s combined with sugar it will access certain parts of your Brain and boost your neurological ability to make you an unstoppable genius. So boost that coffee with some CBD and you might end up wearing your pants on the outside of tights or just getting through the day a little easier!

Please be mindful though that instant coffee won’t get you into the marvel comic universe as it has less nutrients and more additives so stick to natural filter coffee or at least a premium instant and always in moderation.

Feeling stressed? Then reach for the coffee as it increases serotonin and dopamine and you don’t have to be Einstein to know it’s a perfect combo for our CBD for Coffee (or any other food or drink for that matter. Be you a snob hipster geek or an old school ‘I’ll have it black’ lover bring your hot beverage to the next level and try our new Water Soluble CBD.
