How to take Cannabis/CBD oil and how to find the right dose for you

Everyone is different in their physiology and requirements. We recommend that you start off gradually if you are new to CBD/Cannabis oil.

How to take Cannabis/CBD oil:

Shake the bottle well before opening every time you use it. We recommend that you rinse your mouth with water before taking our products, to remove any food/drink residue.

Hold the spray/drops under your tongue to ensure it has a direct route into your bloodstream and hold it there for at least 2 minutes. You can also put our Water-Soluble spray directly into a drink of your choice rather than under the tongue as either option works equally well with this product as it is absorbed through the gastric system rather than under the tongue.

Your first two days of using our products...

Take 1-2 sprays/drops a day under the tongue. Holding it under your tongue for 2 minutes and start at night in case it makes you a little tired.

Then you can...

Increase to 1-2 sprays/drops twice daily for the next few days.

After one week...

Increase to 1 or 2 sprays/drops three times a day.

After 2 weeks of use...

Decide if you would like to increase to the mamimum sprays/drops taken 3 times a day.

You can’t take too much CBD and it will support your overall health and homeostasis, however if you reach the maximum daily amount recommended and have not seen the benefit you were looking for then stop taking it as three weeks is long enough to know if its providing the benefit you desired.

*We recommend no more the 20 drops a day of our standard oil, 10 drops of our premium oil and 7 sprays a day for our water soluble spray.

Can I overdose on Cannabis/CBD Oil?

CBD / Cannabidiol and other cannabinoids are known to be non-psychoactive/toxic, with no known fatal overdose levels ever reported. High doses up to 2,500 mg/day of CBD are reported to be well tolerated in humans. It’s a bit like asking can I overdose on broccoli?

However, everyone responds differently, so take it slowly initially if it’s the first time you have taken CBD. It can make you sleepy at first but this wears off after you have taken it a few times and we recommend that you take it for at least two weeks before deciding on your long term intake.

How do I find the best CBD oil for me?

It is important to do your research about the CBD products you buy online or even in store. It's your body so make sure you are only getting the best products with no hidden surprises! With Canni Family, our products were tested by the Association of Systematic Kinesiologists and the International College of Applied Kinesiology.

They were found to contain no heavy metals or pesticides and the full spectrum of CBG, CBN, CBC, terpenes and terpenoids. As many other leading brands, we also provide independent lab testing reports on our website so you can see clearly what is in the product you are buying and more importantly what isn’t (THC!)  Read our article on the 3 essential things to look for when purchasing CBD oil to learn more! And now we will explain how to take cannabis/CBD oil.

What is CBD/Cannabis Oil?

Cannabis plant leafHave you ever wondered what CBD oil is and how to take cannabis/CBD oil? Well it comes from the hemp plant, as do all forms of Cannabis. THC forms before the plant flowers and CBD forms at the flowering stage and produces a psychoactive effect. The Canni Family CBD/Cannabis oil is 100% full spectrum, contains no THC and is not able to make you ‘high’, no matter how much you take, as it is non-psychoactive. It is in no way addictive, has no known significant side effects and you can’t overdose on it, it will also not show up on drugs tests.

What is CBD/Cannabis oil used for?

We all have an endocannabinoid system in our bodies which has receptors for the cannabidiols that are found in the Cannabis plant.

CBD/Cannabis Oil products are sold as food supplements, we not Medical Practitioners so we are unable to comment on the usages of CBD for medicinal purposes. The Medical Health Regulatory Association (MHRA) stipulates that all providers of CBD products, who choose to abide by the current regulations, are not legally allowed to refer to its medical benefits which is why we do not refer to this on our website. However if you Google CBD benefits a list will come up and you can decide what you believe is right for you. It will improve your overall homeostasis/ balance of the body at the very least.

How does cannabis/CBD oil taste?

We are not going to lie, it tastes a bit like the smell of wet vegetation but not much that is really good for you generally tastes brilliant. You do need to hold it under your tongue when taking the oil as it is absorbed into the vein under the tongue - sublingually. This can be a challenge for some people however that is why we also offer a water-soluble spray which can be added to a drink or sprayed into the mouth as this is absorbed in the gastric system rather than sublingually under the tongue.

You can add the oil to fat-based product such as butter, honey or yogurt but this delays absorption and it means you won’t really know exactly how much you have absorbed whereas with the Water soluble the whole amount is absorbed every time.

Will I feel any side effects from taking too much CBD/Cannabis Oil?

You can’t overdose on CBD and it is not known to interact with any medication. It is not addictive however in very rare cases if you find that you feel any of the following symptoms:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Psychosis
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Drowsiness
  • Dry mouth
  • Dizziness
  • Diarrhoea
  • Changes in appetite

Make sure you stay calm lie down and wait for the symptoms to subside. If you are taking medication prescribed by your Doctor it is worth asking them for their advice on taking CBD and the medication they are suggesting you take.

What are the best ways to take CBD/Cannabis Oil?

Take the Cannabis/CBD oil for the first time where you feel most comfortable

The first time you take cannabis/CBD oil should be within a safe environment where you feel comfortable. No amount of CBD can make you ‘high’ however it is always worth having someone with you when you take it for the first time just in case you feel anxious.

Take the Cannabis/CBD oil or Water-soluble spray on a full stomach

Take the oil on a full stomach as this can avoid any possible nausea you might feel.

Drink Ginger of Camomile tea if the Cannabis/CBD oil makes you feel in any way out of sorts

Whilst it is rare to feel nauseous or unwell after taking CBD if these affects are felt you can take the tea to help settle your system.

STORING YOUR CANNI FAMILY PRODUCTS

Please store The Canni Family products in a dry, dark place at room temperature (not above 25 degrees)

We recommend that you store your products in this way as keeping them refrigerated is not only unnecessary, it can also lead to the Cannabis/CBD Oil/Spray to thicken and then become harder to administer. Sunlight will degrade both the CBD and the oil so it is best to keep it in a kitchen or bathroom cupboard.

The Cannabis/CBD oil and spray have a shelf life of one year once they are opened.

**IF YOUR SPRAY APPEARS NOT TO BE WORKING SIMPLY UNSCREW AND RETIGHTEN THE PUMP WHICH RECREATES A VACUUM.

** DON’T OVER TIGHTEN YOUR OIL LID AS IT CAN CAUSE IT TO LEAK.

THESE PRODUCTS STAIN SO PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN USING THEM

Thank you for reading our blog and if you are interested in trying any of your products please use the code CB10 for a 10% discount on your first order at checkout.
